Growing up in a household that always cooked at home and ate as a family, the importance of a home cooked meal was deeply intertwined into everyday life. Initially starting her first jobs as a teenager at restaurants in the ‘front of house’, Emily had always been close to the kitchen but never knew it was her true calling until many years later. With a background in sales and marketing, Emily began to work as an in-house event planner with multiple restaurants in Toronto, building their private events and catering program from the ground up. After moving to Los Angeles in 2015, she began working for a few catering companies as an event planner but despite much success behind the scene in the planning department, Emily was never satisfied with the quality of food she was selling to her clients and started searching for a way to have more control over the food for the events she was planning.

At this point she decided to open her own catering and events company called Plant Base Co. and the rest is history. Her company has been building steam over the last 2 years and went from only working with private clients at small intimate events to coordinating canapés for 400 people at corporate events. Emily has an intuition in the kitchen that is unmatched and builds flavors and textures with love and true intention. With a focus on all natural cooking, organic ingredients, and global flavors, Emily understands the nuances of flavor and combines her knowledge of classic techniques with creativity and flair that help to create the perfect meal every time. Oh, and she will wash dishes with a smile :)
